The Roxodus Rising Rockstars are the next generations big rockstars that you’ll be able to see LIVE at #Roxodus. Each week, we’ll highlight these rising stars and you’ll get to learn a little more about our fave up-and-coming superstars.

The Wilderness

The Wilderness was born from the words of Dick Prenicke, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Charles Bukowski, Irvine Welsh and other prolific 20th century writers. Through dedication and optimism, The Wilderness has completed the transformation from 4 university students to a fully formed indie rock band. With influences spanning an esoteric musical spectrum, The Wilderness will continue to reinvent itself and seek to draw in an audience that can handle the ride.

The Noolands

They describe themselves as “a Rock & Roll band that writes and records music for our best friends.” That being said, you need to get on their good side. The Noolands have the musicality, lyrical proficiency and fire of a pre-“Gordon” Barenaked Ladies, but edgier. Which only means one thing, you need to catch these guys on the way up so you can say you were a TRUE fan of potentially one of Canada’s biggest rock band prospects since the world was contemplating what we would do if we had a million dollars.

Based out of Barrie, the band has grown into a monster that likes to “mix it up”. At a Noolands show, anything can happen. They may all spontaneously just decide to switch instruments (they’re versatile like that) or just get into a full-blown on-stage discussion set to music. Brandon Davenport, James Laxton, Aaron Casey, Jon Laxton, & Peter Meers pride themselves on keeping it real. People react to their genuine natural stage presence and musicality, so why change a thing. The band continues to build their catalog by working with some of the most talented producers around. They’re not stuck up though, the more best friends they get, the better (and you don’t have to buy them, Kraft Dinner).

The Noolands just released a new summer single called #Grenadine, check it out here:

Still Eighteen

The members of Still Eighteen consider themselves to be non-conformists and questioners of the status quo. This attitude is reflected in many of their songs that tackle topics like, war, greed, poverty, and environmental degradation. Emerging Indie Bands Blog dubbed the band a “rock protest trio”. However, not all of Still Eighteen’s music follows these themes. For example, their light-hearted song, “You Hit Me Like a Drug” and the accompanying funny music video went viral on Facebook with thousands of shares and over 1,000,000 views! The band’s newest original “The Sun” is about the person who is always there for you and has your back. Humanity is united by the fact that we all face hardships. As a band, Still Eighteen has had their share of trials, but they are always there to pick each other up when they are feeling down. This inspired the band to write a song that pays homage to those who help to brighten up someone’s darkest day.

Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold

2016 marked the triumphant return of Rose Cora Perry (former frontwoman of signed touring act Anti-Hero) with the critically-acclaimed release of her sophomore solo album, “Onto the Floor”. A “one-of-a-kind talent”, Perry’s vocals have been said to be the “perfect blend of Alanis Morissette and Norah Jones” (Kaotic Notes), while her songwriting is full of “raw viseral power, killer hooks and punch-in-the-gut riffs” (Spill Magazine).

In conjunction with the album’s release, Perry formed high energy powerhouse duo, The Truth Untold, featuring the exceptional talent of Tyler Randall (ex-Blind Mag/Swerve) on Drums; Perry handles Vocals, Guitar & Songwriting. Acclaimed one of the Top #10 indie talents across Canada, within a mere six months of forming, Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold conquered audiences of 25,000+, performing at notable festivals and winning over crowds of 20-somethings & babyboomers alike.
